Amazon's Prime Video Is Adding Apple TV Plus as a Subscription Add-On
Apple TV+ as a paid subscription on Amazon Prime Video will be available from late October 2024, priced at $9.99 (approximately 1,480 yen) per month.
'Amazon Prime Video offers a wide range of premium programming, including the industry's largest catalog of titles, including productions from Amazon MGM studios , live sports, movies and TV shows, as well as over 100 additional streaming subscriptions,' said Mike Hopkins, senior vice president and head of Amazon Prime Video, at Amazon. 'We continue to expand our services to allow customers to personalize their streaming experience, and we are proud to welcome Apple TV+ and its critically acclaimed shows, movies, and events to Amazon Prime Video.'
'We want Apple TV+ and its drama series and movies from the world's best storytellers to reach as many viewers as possible,' said Eddy Cue, Apple's senior vice president of Services. 'We're thrilled to now bring Apple TV+ to Amazon Prime Video, giving viewers more viewing options than ever before.'
According to Amazon, Amazon Prime members will be able to subscribe to Apple TV+ without having to download additional apps or prepare a separate set-top box in addition to Amazon Prime Video. In addition, Apple TV+ subscriptions can be canceled at any time.
Variety, a foreign media outlet, pointed out that the Apple TV+ app is already available on Amazon Fire TV and that Amazon Prime Video is available on Apple TV 4K , and speculated that 'while the two companies already appear to be cooperating on the device side, this collaboration will take their business partnership to a new level.'
At the time of writing, Apple TV+ is only available on Amazon Prime Video in the United States, and no announcement has been made about when it will be available in other regions, including Japan.
