Amazon's tablet 'Fire HD 8' with increased memory power 2024 model & kids model & kids pro appearance review

I was able to borrow

the 2024 model (13th generation) of Amazon's new tablet ' Fire HD 8 ,' announced on October 3, 2024, from Amazon, along with the 'Kids Model' and 'Kids Pro,' so I decided to try playing around with it.

Amazon's tablet for elementary school students, the Fire Kids Pro, now comes in a new 8-inch model. The new Fire HD 8 Series has been updated for smoother streaming and gaming - About Amazon | Japan

The outer boxes of the Fire HD 8, Fire HD 8 Kids Pro, and Fire HD 8 Kids Model look like this. The functions are not significantly different, but the sizes of the boxes are quite different.

The catchphrases written on the back of the boxes were different for each model: 'Watch, listen, read, connect,' 'Potential to expand your passion into the future,' and 'A treasure trove of discoveries that will expand your thinking skills.'

I opened the Fire HD 8 and took it out.

The included items are simple: the Fire HD 8 main unit, power adapter, USB cable, and instruction manual.

The dimensions of the device are 201.9mm x 137.3mm x 9.6mm. The screen size is 8 inches with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels (189ppi). It has a 2MP front camera located in the top center of the bezel.

The actual weight is 333g. The Fire HD 8 comes in two models: 3GB memory, 32GB storage and 4GB memory, 64GB storage. This time, I borrowed the 4GB memory, 64GB storage model.

There are speakers on the left and right sides of the top of the device.

There is nothing on the left side.

There is a microSD card slot on the bottom right side of the device, which allows you to expand the storage capacity up to 1TB.

On the right side are the earphone jack, USB Type-C (2.0) port, volume buttons, and power button.

The back looks like this, with the Amazon logo in the center.

There is a 5MP rear camera on the top left.

The bezel width was approximately 12mm.

I also lined up the Kids Pro and Kids Model. The instructions were tailored to each device.

However, it seems that the setup is basically intended to be done by an adult, and there were no furigana in the instructions for the Kids Pro or Kids Model.

The cover for the Kids Pro is 'Marvel Avengers', and there are also 'Green' and 'Planet' covers. The weight is 499g including the main body.

The cover for the kids model is 'Disney Princess', and there are also 'Grape' and 'Blue' colors. The weight is 501g including the main body. The size of the cover is larger than the Kids Pro, but it is not too heavy because it is made of a soft material.

When inserting or removing the microSD card, the Kids Pro and Kids Model models require the removal of a special cover. The device is indistinguishable from the Fire HD 8 when the cover is removed. The inside is a 3GB RAM and 32GB storage model, with subtle differences such as the lack of support for Google Play.

When you line them up with the power button facing you with the cover on, you can see the difference between the bare Fire HD 8, the Kids Pro with the Slim Cover, and the Kids model with the cushioned cover.

The Kids Pro has volume and power buttons that can be pressed on the case.

The kids' model has open buttons and connectors, and is designed not to be used much.

The back of each cover looks like this.

The different colored part at the bottom of the cover can be opened to become a stand, allowing you to prop up your device.

I will continue to try out the three different devices.
