Good and bad points of the Pixel Watch 3
The Google smartwatch ' Pixel Watch 3 ' has a larger screen than the previous generation model, and is equipped with a large-capacity battery that can be used for up to 36 hours, refining the basic performance as a smartwatch. I was able to borrow such a Pixel Watch 3 from Google, so I actually used it for more than a week and summarized the convenient points.

The Pixel Watch 3 comes in two models with different dial sizes: 41mm and 45mm. The appearance and size of both models are summarized in detail in the following article. This time, we tried wearing the 45mm model of the Pixel Watch 3 to check how it feels to wear.

◆ Customize the dial to your liking and quickly check the information you need
The watch face of the Pixel Watch 3 can be customized using the Pixel Watch app . There are sports watch style and analog watch style watch faces, so you can choose according to your preferences and the situation.
The watch face can display a variety of information such as weather, calendar, steps, heart rate, and energy consumption, and can also display app shortcut buttons.
After trying out various things, I personally ended up with the following watch face. The outer edge of the analog clock-style watch face displays the distance traveled, floors traveled, steps taken, and energy consumed, while the inside displays a Google Keep shortcut button, day of the week and date, heart rate, and temperature.
You can quickly check the notes you have recorded in Google Keep by simply tapping the 'Google Keep shortcut button.' By adding shortcuts to apps you use regularly to your watch face, you can make your daily tasks more efficient.
◆ Running motivation skyrockets
The Pixel Watch 3 can be linked to your Fitbit account, and you can send and manage activity records such as running and cycling to the Fitbit app. You can also start activities from the Pixel Watch 3, so you can start recording your running without having to operate your smartphone.
The screen of the Pixel Watch 3 while recording a run looks like this. You can run while checking the distance you ran, the elapsed time, and your heart rate.
After you finish your run, the recorded data will be sent to your smartphone and you can view detailed information in the Fitbit app.
The records you can check in the Fitbit app look like this: The route you ran is displayed at the top, and below that are the intensity level, distance, time, average pace, elevation gain, and energy consumption.
Scroll down to see your pace for every kilometer.
You can also check the progress of your heart rate while running.
You can also check your stride length, the time you are on the ground, the vertical motion ratio, etc. Your movements and heart rate while running are digitized and displayed in a row, so you can enjoy it as if you were looking at the results screen of a game.
In addition, if you set a goal in Fitbit, information such as 'Today's distance traveled,' 'Today's steps,' and 'Today's energy consumption' will be periodically displayed on the screen of the Pixel Watch 3. This will make you realize that 'Today, I'm just lounging around at home and not moving my body at all!', which will motivate you to take up exercise such as running.
Another interesting point is that the Pixel Watch 3 records your energy consumption just by wearing it. Energy consumption and running records are accumulated in the Fitbit app, so you can see how much exercise you have done and how little exercise you have done.
◆Improved voice recognition accuracy
If you press and hold the side button on the Pixel Watch 3, Google Assistant will launch and you will be able to operate it by voice. The accuracy of voice recognition is quite good, and it will recognize your voice smoothly without you having to think about 'speaking slowly' or 'speaking clearly'. You can see how to operate the Pixel Watch 3 by voice in the video below.
◆ I'm not satisfied with the screenshot system
The 'screenshot mechanism' was very inconvenient after using the Pixel Watch 3 for a week. The steps to take and save a screenshot on the Pixel Watch 3 are as follows. First, press the crown and side button at the same time.
A notification to save the screenshot will appear on your linked smartphone, so tap the notification.
You'll then be prompted to choose what to do with your screenshot, from which you can save it to Google Photos or send it via email.
The saved screenshot looks like this. The saving procedure itself is not that complicated, but there is a restriction that 'only one screenshot can be kept on the Pixel Watch 3 without transferring it to a smartphone', and if you take a screenshot and then take a second one without transferring it to your smartphone, the first one will disappear. For this reason, if you want to take multiple screenshots, such as 'I want to take screenshots at the start, middle, and end of a run,' you have to stop and take out your smartphone and transfer the screenshots every time, which was very troublesome. However, it is unclear whether ordinary users have the opportunity to take multiple screenshots on their smartwatches.
Summary
Although the Pixel Watch 3 has the problem of 'saving screenshots is a hassle,' it has many good points during normal use, such as 'the battery lasts all day,' 'the watch face is clearly visible even in bright outdoor conditions,' 'the watch face can be customized to your liking,' and 'it has a wide range of functions for enjoying running.' For this reason, the Pixel Watch 3 can be said to be a smartwatch with no weaknesses for most Android users.
The price of the Pixel Watch 3 is 52,800 yen for the 41mm model and 59,800 yen for the 45mm model.
