The HONOR MagicPad 2 is a tablet equipped with a 12.3-inch OLED display with a resolution of 3000 x 1920 and a refresh rate of 144Hz. The CPU is Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 Mobile Platform and the OS is MagicOS 8.0.1 (Android 14). The battery capacity is an amazing 10050mAh and supports 66W fast charging.

MagicOS 8.0 has many AI features, including voice-to-text conversion, handwriting beautification, mathematical expression recognition, etc. One of the most eye-catching features is the '

AI defocus technology ' that aims to improve myopia.

AI defocus technology is a function that helps adjust the focus of the eyes by making the center of the display clear while blurring the periphery. There are vision correction glasses on the market that use the same mechanism, but HONOR's AI defocus technology seems to reproduce that mechanism on the display using AI.

Nicholas Sutrich, a reporter for technology media Android Central, tried it out and said, 'It's hard to explain, and you'll have to see it to understand, but it works impressively. The technology works by separating colors, bringing some into focus and blurring others. Depending on the color of the screen, colors may shift or the edges of objects may blur, making them easier or harder to focus. This is similar to chromatic aberration, an adjustment you'll see in 3D movies.'

YouTuber PhoneBuff explains in

a video that some colors change when the AI defocus technology is turned on. 'In essence, it simulates the act of looking at something far away,' Sutrich explained. At the time of writing, AI defocus only works on YouTube and the Amazon Kindle app.

AI Defocus is also installed in the HONOR Magic V3, which was announced at the same time as the HONOR MagicPad 2. The HONOR Magic V3 is characterized by being the 'thinnest folding smartphone,' with a thickness of 9.2 mm. This figure stands out compared to the 12.1 mm '

Galaxy Z Fold 6 ' and the 10.5 mm ' Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold .'

Engadget , which reviewed the phone, said, 'Unlike existing foldable smartphones, which make you feel like you're carrying two smartphones in your pocket, the new one is very comfortable to carry in your pocket. Some new features, such as improved backlight brightness and wireless charging compatibility, are improvements from the previous model, but there are no eye-catching features.'

Comparing it with the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Trusted Reviews said, 'The Magic V3 is £100 cheaper, thinner, and easier to carry thanks to its curved edges and rounded corners. It also has a smaller crease. It has a larger battery and faster charging speed, but the Google version has better AI and longer support.'
