We took a look at the appearance of the Panasonic mirrorless camera 'LUMIX DC-GH7' and compared it to its predecessor, the GH6.

Panasonic released the mirrorless single-lens camera ' LUMIX DC-GH7 ' on Friday, July 26, 2024. The editorial department of GIGAZINE, which has been using the GH series until now, also got this GH7, so we first checked its appearance while comparing it with the previous model

GH6 .

The GH7 box looks like this. This time I only purchased the body.

Inside was an instruction manual, a video and audio product warranty, and information about the compatible '

LUMIX Lab .'

Also included are the GH7 body, shoulder strap,

BNC conversion cable, battery charger and battery pack.

We compared the bodies of the GH6 (left) and GH7 (right) from the front. In the following images where the two bodies are lined up, the one on the left is the GH6 and the one on the right is the GH7. The only difference is the model number written on the top right of the lens mount, but there is no difference in shape, size, or button layout. The nominal size of the body is approximately 138.4mm x 100.3mm x 99.6mm, the same as the GH6.

The lens mount is the same Micro Four Thirds mount as the GH6. However, while the GH6's sensor was a 4/3-inch Live MOS sensor, the GH7's sensor is a 4/3-inch BSI CMOS sensor (17.3mm x 13mm). To the left of the lens mount are the video live view magnification button and preview button, and to the right are the lens removal button and sub video recording button.

The weight of the GH7 body including the battery pack was measured at 807g. The GH6 weighed 823g, so you can see that the GH7 is slightly lighter.

Comparing the top surfaces.

The button layout around the shutter button of the GH7 has not changed from the GH6. The shutter button is at the very back of the right grip, and in front of it are the white balance button, ISO sensitivity button, and exposure compensation button. The dial on the left is the mode dial, and at the base is the power switch. The red button is the video record button, above it is the audio information display button, and at the bottom right is the rear dial.

The drive mode dial and operation lock lever on the top of the left grip are also the same.

The design of the back is also unchanged from the GH6.

On the right side of the back are the focus mode lever, AF mode button, AF ON button, joystick, quick menu button, control dial, MENU/SET button, back button and display button.

The rear monitor is a 3.0-inch (1.84 million dots) touch panel with an adjustable tilt angle, which is unchanged from the GH6.

Comparing the right sides, there is no difference between the GH6 and GH7.

When you open the card door, you will find a CFExpress Type-B card slot and an SD card slot.

If you remove the cover labeled 'REMOTE,' you will find a remote terminal to which you can connect

a shutter remote control ( sold separately).

Comparing the left side, there is a microphone jack, an HDMI port, a USB port slot, and next to them is a fan grill for exhausting heat.

From the top there is a microphone jack, a headphone jack for monitoring, a USB-C port compatible with USB 3.1, and an HDMI port.

Comparing the bottom, there is no difference between the GH6 and GH7. The round rubber door on the right side of the battery door is for connecting the DC coupler

DMW-DCC18 for external power supply.

Although the label design on the included battery pack was different, the model number was

DMW-BLK22 , the same as the GH6.

The specifications of the GH6 and GH7 are compared in the table below.
