Image generation AI company Midjourney announces entry into the hardware field

Midjourney, an AI company known for developing high-quality image generation AI, has announced its entry into the hardware field.

On August 24, 2024, Midjourney officially announced its entry into the hardware field by posting on its official X account, 'We are officially entering the hardware field. If you are interested in joining our new team in San Francisco, please contact us at [email protected].' Shortly after the announcement, Midjourney CEO David Holtz also posted, 'If you are interested in joining our new hardware division, please contact us,' highlighting that the hardware division is currently hiring.

Midjourney hired Ahmad Abbas , who was previously the hardware engineering manager for Apple Vision Pro, in December 2023 to head the hardware division. When an X user pointed this out, Midjourney replied, 'That's a good one.'

It's unclear what kind of hardware Midjourney is developing, but the official Midjourney X account responded to a post asking, 'It's not a pendant, is it? Please say NO,' by saying, 'It's not a pendant.'

Midjourney's CEO, Holtz, is known as the co-founder of device development company 'Leap Motion,' which was founded in 2008. You can find out more about Holtz's career in the following article.
