It is pointed out that Elon Musk always destroys the sales promoted by Linda Yaccarino, CEO of X (formerly Twitter)

The New York Times reported that the efforts of Linda Yaccarino, who was

poached from NBC to become CEO of X (formerly Twitter), were in many ways undermined by the wishes of Elon Musk, who owns X.

The first example is when Yaccarino contacted Don Lemon, a well-known journalist at CNN. Noticing the enormous influence CNN has, Yaccarino approached Lemon to arrange a meeting with Musk in order to bring CNN programs to X and generate revenue from advertising and other sources.

However, as Lemon mentioned sexual harassment allegations within X and drug use allegations against Musk, Musk gradually became upset and sent a message after the interview saying he would cancel the deal with Lemon. However, some believe that Lemon is in the wrong for this. For example, regarding the drug use allegations, Musk retorted, 'I have a prescription, so it's not a problem. It's a private question.' Lemon was fired from CNN one month after the meeting.

In other cases, Musk strongly criticized advertisers when Yaccarino was calling on them to return. Also, when Hamas attacked Israel, Musk made remarks that seemed to support anti-Semitism immediately after Yaccarino explained to advertisers that 'X fights anti-Semitism.'

According to an interview with The New York Times, Musk has undermined Yaccarino's efforts over the past year, and his disdain for the advertising industry has been made clear to multiple advertisers and X employees.

Many advertisers have withdrawn from X due to Musk's remarks and unintended display of advertisements. According to estimates by research firm Emarketer, X may have lost about 52% of its US advertising revenue in 2023 alone. In addition, according to research by research firm Sensor Tower, the average number of daily users of the mobile app version of X has decreased by almost 20% compared to the fourth quarter of 2022, when Musk acquired it.
