According to AMD, during final checks of Ryzen 9000 products, it was discovered that the initial production units shipped to partners did not fully meet AMD's quality expectations. As a result, AMD has recalled and replaced all Ryzen 9000 units delivered to retailers and OEMs worldwide.

This move will delay the launch of the Ryzen 7 9700X and Ryzen 5 9600X processors to August 8th, while the launch of the higher-end Ryzen 9 9950X and Ryzen 9 9900X will be delayed until August 15th.

'We pride ourselves on delivering a high-quality experience to our Ryzen customers, and we look forward to our fans having a great experience with the new Ryzen 9000 series,' said Jack Hein, senior vice president of Computing and Graphics at AMD.

Technology media Tom's Hardware said, 'This is an unprecedented move for AMD, at least in recent history. A company representative told Tom's Hardware that the issue does not require a redesign of the Ryzen 9000 silicon or change the specifications of each model. AMD plans to re-inspect the chips it has removed from the field to identify potential issues and return unaffected models to retail channels, but this indicates that not all chips are affected.'

It is known that at least two Ryzen 9000 products are being sold to customers. More details about the Ryzen 9000 with the 'Zen 5 architecture' can be found in the following article.
