X (formerly Twitter) is developing a feature to block replies with links to combat impression zombies

Since the introduction of the ad revenue sharing program on X (formerly Twitter), there has been a massive outbreak of impression zombies, who earn impressions by replying to posts from accounts with a large number of followers. To combat this, X has revealed that it is developing a tool to block replies that include links.

Nima Ouji , an independent app researcher who has previously discovered several unannounced features for X, has pointed out that X is working on a feature to block replies that contain links. According to screenshots posted by Ouji, X will allow users to enable or disable this feature at any time.

Regarding the 'function to block replies containing links' discovered by Ouji, Christopher Stanley, Senior Director of Security Engineering at X, posted, 'My team is developing it,' acknowledging that the function is under development.

Technology media Engadget said, 'If this feature is implemented, not only will it keep spambots away, but it will also allow you to block users who advertise their own websites in other people's replies.' However, Engadget points out that it may unintentionally block replies that are trying to prevent the spread of false information.

In addition, in order to improve the deterioration of user experience caused by the increase in impression zombies, X is also developing a 'Dislike' button that allows users to give a low rating to a reply.
