According to IDC, Apple Vision Pro sales have not reached 100,000 units since its launch in February 2024 as of the first quarter, and sales in the United States in the second quarter fell 75%.
IDC speculates that the reason for this is that 'almost all US users who wanted to buy Apple Vision Pro from the beginning have already bought it.' Meanwhile, Apple will begin selling Apple Vision Pro in Japan, China and Singapore in June 2024. It is scheduled to be released in Australia, Canada, France, Germany and the UK on July 12, 2024, which is expected to offset the sluggish sales in the US.
'Apart from its price, the success of Apple Vision Pro will depend on the content available,' said Francisco Jeronimo, vice president at IDC. 'As Apple expands its product into international markets, it's important that it also makes local content available.'
It has been reported that Apple has temporarily suspended development of the second-generation Apple Vision Pro and is working on a cheaper version of the Apple Vision Pro.
This cheaper version of Apple Vision Pro is expected to appear in the second half of 2025, and IDC predicts that 'sales will more than double when the cheaper version of Apple Vision Pro is released.'
