According to technology media TechCrunch, some users have started to see a speedometer on the iOS version of Google Maps. When you start navigation with Google Maps, a speedometer appears in the bottom left corner of the screen, and if you drive over the speed limit, the color of the speedometer changes to encourage you to slow down. In addition, the speedometer is also compatible with ' CarPlay '.
You can change the speedometer settings in the 'Navigation' options in Google Maps 'Settings.'
The same function has been available on the Android version since 2019, and you can access the speedometer settings from 'Settings' and 'Navigation Settings'.
TechCrunch has seen the iOS version of Speedometer rolling out in India in early July 2024, after Google later said the feature would be rolling out globally.
Google says , 'The speedometer is for informational purposes only. Please check your vehicle's speedometer to see your actual driving speed.'
