NSEU is a labor union consisting of about 28,400 members, and in June 2024, it carried out its first strike at Samsung demanding a wage increase. Samsung proposed to revise its compensation structure in response to the union's request, but NSEU launched a second strike, claiming that Samsung's proposal was not sufficient.

According to the NSEU, Samsung has different bonus calculations for general workers and executives, with general workers' bonuses calculated based on 'operating profits minus costs,' while executives' bonuses are calculated based on 'individual performance targets.' NSEU claims this bonus system is unfair and is seeking correction.

The strike will last for three days from July 8th (Mon) to July 10th (Wed), 2024, and 6,540 people are expected to participate. The strikers include production line equipment monitors, which could affect Samsung's business activities.

Semiconductor analysts point out that 'Samsung's memory production lines are automated, so this strike is unlikely to affect memory production.' Samsung also said that the strike in June 2024 did not affect production lines or business activities.
