The newly announced key visual is a beautiful image depicting the four characters - Oscar, Marie Antoinette, Andre, and Fersen - and matches the tagline, 'They loved nobly and wholeheartedly.'
And here is the second special video.

The original work is a manga by Ikeda Riyoko that was serialized in 'Weekly Margaret' from 1972. It has sold over 20 million copies and gained huge popularity through its adaptation into a TV anime and a stage play by the Takarazuka Revue. Although it has been over 50 years since the serialization began, a completely new animated film will be made.
Along with the second teaser video, cast members and their comments were also released.
Sawashiro Miyuki plays Oscar François de Jarjayes, a beautiful woman who dresses as a man and is the youngest daughter of a distinguished aristocratic Shogun family but was raised as the heir.
My name is Sawashiro Miyuki, and I will be the voice of Oscar in the animated film 'The Rose of Versailles.'
Using Ikeda Riyoko's portrayal of Oscar as a bible, we have created an Oscar with Tajima Reiko's voice, as well as sublimated versions of Oscar in live-action films and on stage.
And into that history, a new Oscar is about to be born under the direction of Director Yoshimura.
(The amount of work done by the illustrators is incredible!)
Now we are just waiting quietly and nervously for the day it will be completed.
Hirano Aya plays Marie Antoinette, the daughter of Austrian Empress Maria Theresa, who came to France to become the wife of King Louis XVI.
It's like a dream.
I never imagined I would have the opportunity to play my idol, Marie Antoinette, in this historic masterpiece.
As a fan who has continued to watch manga, anime, and plays, I never thought a day like this would come.
I think this production is quite a challenge.
It was clear to see that each member of the production staff had a personal attachment to the work and were creating it with respect.
I hope that this production will revolutionize the image everyone has of The Rose of Versailles and mark the beginning of a new era.
Toyonaga Toshiyuki plays Andre Grandier, Oscar's childhood friend and servant to the Jarjayes family.
I never thought that I would be in 'The Rose of Versailles,' such a historic and legendary work...
Moreover, I never thought the day would come when I would be given the opportunity to play the role of Andre.
And I also sing songs.
I'm also acting out various scenes from the original work...
The film is set in modern times and depicts a beautiful, intelligent and ephemeral Rose of Versailles.
I am truly happy to be involved in a work that will be loved for all time.
Please look forward to it!!
Kato Kazuki plays Hans Axel von Fersen, the Swedish count who has a fateful encounter with Antoinette at a masked ball.
It's been 50 years since its creation...I am truly honored to be able to take part in the role of Fersen in 'The Rose of Versailles,' which has remained as beloved throughout that time as ever.
As someone who has experience of being involved in the French Revolution through a musical production, I was deeply moved when this story was decided. In addition to the famous scenes from the original work, new singing performances have been added, and I believe that the work will bring about a new revolution in the Reiwa era with modern video technology. Please look forward to it!
In addition, comments from staff members have also been received.
Director Ai Yoshimura:
I had the opportunity to take part in the animated film 'The Rose of Versailles,' and was delighted with its gorgeous and profound world view, Oscar, Antoinette, and other fascinating characters...
I am so happy as a fan to be able to work every day immersed in beautiful roses. Thank you.
All of our staff are working hard to ensure that this wonderful work is successfully portrayed on screen.
Screenwriter: Tomoko Kaneharu
Having read the original manga as it was serialized, Lady Oscar has always been my idol, and The Rose of Versailles is a bible that warms my heart no matter how many times I read it.
So when I received the offer to write the script, I was, without exaggeration, truly happy like I had dreamed!
Now I just can't wait for the movie to be completed and released.
Character design: Mariko Oka
To be honest, I still can't believe that the day has come when I will be involved in such a legendary work as 'The Rose of Versailles.'
I work every day with both excitement and joy.
Anyway, everything is fun to draw.
We will continue to do our utmost together with the dedicated director and staff to deliver the beauty and power of the work.
Music producer and composer Hiroyuki Sawano:
This time, I will be participating in the music production of the animated film 'The Rose of Versailles.'
I started making music about four years ago, but this was my first opportunity to create a large number of vocal pieces in a format different from the anime songs I had produced up until then.
In addition, I feel that the participation of KOHTA YAMAMOTO in the soundtrack has expanded the story of the work in a more emotional way. I hope you will enjoy it at the theater.
Music: KOHTA YAMAMOTO:
I will be in charge of the music for this work together with Hiroyuki Sawano.
I am excited to be involved in this great production!
This time I worked on rearranging many of Sawano's songs, and they were all wonderful songs so it was a lot of fun making them.
The songs change form and are scattered throughout various scenes.
Please enjoy this new 'The Rose of Versailles' while also paying attention to the music!
The animated film 'The Rose of Versailles' will be released in the New Year of 2025.
