I tried benchmarking ASUS's Intel Core Ultra-equipped mini PCs 'ASUS NUC 14 Pro' and 'ASUS NUC 14 Pro +'

The small PCs ' ASUS NUC 14 Pro ' and ' ASUS NUC 14 Pro + ' announced by ASUS in May 2024 are equipped with the maximum configuration of '

Intel Core Ultra 7 165H ' and ' Intel Core Ultra 9 185H ', respectively, and feature powerful specifications. I borrowed the 'ASUS NUC 14 Pro' and 'ASUS NUC 14 Pro +' from ASUS for review, so I performed a benchmark after reviewing the appearance and disassembling the main unit .

◆ASUS NUC 14 Pro
The ASUS NUC 14 Pro is equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 7 165H CPU, which has 16 cores and 22 threads, as confirmed by CPU-Z . The ASUS NUC 14 Pro is also available with the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H, Intel Core Ultra 5 135H, Intel Core Ultra 5 125H, and Intel Core Ultra 3 100U options.

When I checked with

GPU-Z , I found that the ASUS NUC 14 Pro was equipped with 'Intel Arc Graphics' as the GPU built into the CPU.

When I checked the storage with

CrystalDiskInfo , I found that the ASUS NUC 14 Pro was using a Samsung MZVL2512HDJD-00BT7 .

Next, we performed a benchmark test at a room temperature of 27°C. The ASUS NUC 14 Pro+, which will be described later, was also benchmarked under the same conditions.

The transfer speeds of the ASUS NUC 14 Pro SSD measured with '

CrystalDiskMark ' are as follows: sequential read 6689.69MB/s, sequential write 4268.05MB/s, random read 298.52MB/s, random write 187.91MB/s.

Next, we ran ' CrystalMark Retro ', which measures the performance of the CPU and 2D and 3D graphics. The ASUS NUC 14 Pro's overall score was '10112'. In addition, the CPU's single-core score was '11556' and the multi-core score was '129561'.

The CPU benchmark results using '

Geekbench 6 ' were a single-core score of '2273' and a multi-core score of '11124'.

The single-core score details look like this.

Multi-core score details.

In addition, when we measured the GPU performance with OpenCL, a score of '32878' was recorded.

Vulkun's score was '32280'.

Next, we ran

the Passmark PerformanceTest V11 . The overall score was 5836.

CPU score is '29436'

2D score is '744'

The 3D score is quite low at 4881.

Memory score is '2386'

The disk score was '27332'.

Next, we ran the '

FINAL FANTASY XV WINDOWS EDITION Benchmark .' This allows us to get a sense of how comfortable the game will be when playing. Below are the results of running the benchmark with the maximum load set to 'Image quality: High quality,' 'Resolution: 3840 x 2160,' and 'Window: Full screen.' Because it is a GPU built into the CPU, the score was a low '877,' and the rating was 'difficult to operate.'

Setting the resolution to 1980x1080 improved the results slightly, giving a score of 2263 and a rating of 'heavy.' When actually playing the game, it is necessary to review the image quality settings.

◆ASUS NUC 14 Pro+
Next, we performed the same measurements on the ASUS NUC 14 Pro+. When checking the CPU installed in the ASUS NUC 14 Pro+ with CPU-Z, we found that it was using the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H, which has 16 cores and 22 threads. In addition, options with the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H, Intel Core Ultra 5 155H, and Intel Core Ultra 5 125H were also available.

Like the ASUS NUC 14 Pro, the ASUS NUC 14 Pro+ is equipped with Intel Arc Graphics as a GPU built into the CPU.

The SSD used was the Samsung

MZVL21T0HDLU-00BT7 . Unlike the ASUS NUC 14 Pro, the ASUS NUC 14 Pro+ is equipped with a 1TB SSD.

The transfer speeds of the SSD measured with 'CrystalDiskMark' were 6928.88MB/s for sequential read, 4325.48MB/s for sequential write, 289.31MB/s for random read, and 185.48MB/s for random write.

The ASUS NUC 14 Pro+'s overall score in CrystalMark Retro was 10729, with the CPU's single-core score being 12007 and its multi-core score being 147746.

The CPU benchmark results using Geekbench 6 were a single-core score of 2552 and a multi-core score of 13685.

Below are the single-core score details.

Multi-core score details are below.

The result of the GPU performance measurement using OpenCL was '36787'.

The score on Vulkun is '38404'.

When we ran the benchmark test using Passmark PerformanceTest V11, the overall score was 7138.

CPU score is '35162'

2D score is '817'

3D score is '6118'

Memory score is '2928'

The disk score was '31780'.

When we ran the 'FINAL FANTASY XV WINDOWS EDITION Benchmark' with 'Image quality: high quality,' 'Resolution: 3840 x 2160,' and 'Window: full screen,' the score was '1243' and the rating was 'Difficult to run.'

When the resolution was set to '1980 x 1080', the score was '2922' and the rating was 'slightly heavy'.
