China's Chang'e 6 probe successfully lands on the far side of the moon
China's National Space Administration has announced that the lunar rover Chang'e-6 has safely landed on the far side of the moon.
Chang'e 6 landed on the southern tip of the Ilex basin, and work is planned to proceed in the direction of the moon.

Chang'e-6 was launched from the Wenchang Space Center in Wenchang, Hainan Province on May 3, 2024, and successfully landed on the far side of the moon with the support of the relay station Magpie-Qiao-2.

Chang'e 6 flies over the far side of the moon at considerable speed.
The camera quickly points downwards.
Then it descended forcefully and landed with a loud thud.
In January 2019, China became the first country to successfully send the Chang'e 4 probe to the far side of the moon.

Chang'e 4 carried the lunar rover Yutu 2 and took numerous photographs of the far side of the moon.
Chang'e 5, launched in 2020, is the first space probe to collect lunar samples since Luna 24, launched by the Soviet Union in 1976.
Chang'e 6 is scheduled to return on June 25, 2024.
