The Proteus controller is a modular controller for gamers with disabilities, developed by the Xbox design team in close collaboration with partner company Byowave . Xbox announced the controller in conjunction with Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD), which is the third Thursday of May every year.
The basic components of a Proteus controller are:
・Power Cube
The cube-shaped module allows you to freely arrange buttons, cross keys, and other parts on each side. Each power cube has its own battery and is paired with a Bluetooth dongle for use.
・Charging spacer

The charging spacer is equipped with a USB-C port, allowing you to charge all connected power cubes.
・Analog cube

There are two analog cubes, one for each of the left and right analog sticks.
・Half cube

The Half Cube allows you to change the angle of your components to 45 or 90 degrees.
・Xbox parts
A module that combines the Xbox home button, menu button, display button, share button, and status LED. It can be attached to the power cube or analog cube using magnets.
・XYAB&D pad parts

・Mini analog stick

A small analog stick module that can be attached to a power cube or analog cube using magnets.
There are also other trigger parts that allow you to place the RB/RT and LB/LT buttons on the cube.
By using a dedicated grip or other device in conjunction with these, you can use the Proteus controller like a normal controller that is held with both hands.

You can also stack four analog cubes or power cubes together to create a control stick-like look, as shown below.

Since you can place the buttons you prefer in the position you prefer, it seems that this device will be in demand among people other than gamers with disabilities.
