Meta releases beta version of 'Travel Mode' for Meta Quest 2/Quest 3 on airplanes

Meta has announced the introduction of travel mode for its VR/AR headsets, Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest 3. Until now, it was assumed that the device would be used indoors, such as at home or at work, but with travel mode, you can now use Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest 3 on airplanes while traveling.

At the time of writing, travel mode is a beta feature and is disabled by default. If you enable travel mode from the settings and bring Meta Quest 2/3 onto an airplane and start it up, it will detect the Wi-Fi on the airplane, automatically launch the browser, and you will be able to access various programs.

Meta said, 'We've specially tuned our algorithms to take into account the motion of airplanes, so you get a stable and consistent experience even when you're looking out the window.' At the time of writing, Travel Mode is optimized for use on airplanes, but it will be available for other forms of transportation such as trains in the future.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg posted on Instagram a video of himself wearing the Meta Quest 3 on an airplane and enjoying the travel mode.
Additionally, Meta announced a partnership with Germany's Lufthansa to provide passengers in the airline's new business class, Allegris, on select flights with exclusive mixed reality content designed to work with the Meta Quest 3's travel mode.
Lufthansa's exclusive mixed reality content will include movies and TV shows, games such as chess and Connect Four, spatial videos and 360° video content from famous travel podcasters, virtual scouting of travel destinations, and meditation exercises.
