'Virtual Colossus 3D' is a faithful virtual replica of the 'Colossus' computer that decoded Nazi Germany's Lorentz code.



Colossus is a codebreaker developed in the UK to decipher the German Lorentz code during World War II. Virtual Colossus 3D has been released, restoring the Colossus to a virtual space and allowing you to observe it from all sides and tweak its switches.

Colossus is a codebreaker that appeared in 1943 and is also known as 'the world's first programmable digital machine' because of its multiple electronic devices. It was used only for a short period during the war and its existence was not made public until the 1970s.

Virtual Colossus 3D is a virtual version of Colossus. You can access Colossus by opening the above link in your browser. You can move around the space with the WASD keys or arrow keys. You can move the viewpoint up, down, left and right by clicking on the screen, and you can jump with the Space key and crouch with the Shift key.



You can get up close and personal with the huge number of cable switches, some of which you can even click and move.



Certain parts are marked with a question mark, and by clicking on it you can read an explanation about that part.



You can actually decrypt the Lorenz cipher. Click 'How to decrypt a Lorenz message' to view the decryption tutorial.



An introduction and tutorial will be displayed.



In some tutorials, clicking on letters will make the corresponding body part light up.
