The man arrested was 26-year-old Wickliffe Fleurizard of Georgetown, Texas, who was in Salt Lake City on a snowboarding trip when he had to return home to visit family from Florida.

Having to return home suddenly, Fullizard received a Southwest Airlines 'buddy pass' from a friend. A 'buddy pass' is a low-cost airline ticket that airline employees can issue to acquaintances. Although the passenger cannot reserve a seat, the ticket allows the passenger to board the plane if there is an empty seat. Fullizard used this buddy pass to pass through security, but the Southwest domestic flight he was scheduled to board was full, so he headed to the Delta Airlines gate. Since Fullizard's buddy pass is for Southwest Airlines, he cannot board the Delta flight.

So, Fullizard took a photo of someone else's airline ticket with his smartphone without permission. Since the ticket has a code printed on it to pass through the boarding gate, Fullizard passed through the gate using this code and hid in the airplane's bathroom. Then, after all the passengers had boarded the plane, he planned to find an empty seat and sit there.

However, the plane was also full, so there was no seat available for Fullizard. As the plane started to run towards the runway, a flight attendant called out to Fullizard as he emerged from the restroom to check his ticket, only to discover that someone else was already seated there, revealing the fraud. The plane quickly returned to the gate, and Fullizard was arrested by police who were notified. The plane reportedly departed 30 minutes late after Fullizard was handed over to the police.

According to Delta Airlines, when the girl whose ticket Fleurizard had photographed without permission tried to pass through the boarding gate, it was discovered that someone had already passed through with the same ticket, which caused some trouble. After Fleurizard's arrest, staff checked the security camera footage and found that Fleurizard had taken a photo of the girl's ticket.

At the time of writing, Furlizard, who is being held in a Salt Lake City jail, admitted to the charges and said he was 'just trying to go home.'
