'Meta's upcoming education product, which is currently unnamed and due to be launched in the second half of 2024, will include a hub of education-specific apps and features, as well as the ability to manage multiple devices at once,' said Nick Clegg, president of global affairs at Meta.

According to Meta, the education product will include a series of visually immersive, education-specific apps that teachers can use in classrooms with students aged 13 and over. Meta also said it plans to release the product during the fall semester, which runs from September to December.

It seems that it was not Meta but actual educators who came up with the idea of 'providing education-specific apps' and 'collective device management by teachers.' Meta said, 'They told us that immersive experiences using VR headsets are much more fun, engaging, and memorable for students than teaching something using a textbook.'

'While metaverse technologies such as virtual reality (VR), mixed reality (MR), and augmented reality (AR) are transforming society, the potential for education is one of the most exciting,' said Clegg.

In fact, Meta reported that 'students taking regular classes had an average final test score of 78 points, while students learning in VR had an average score of 85 points.' In addition, a survey by the XR Association revealed that 77% of educators believe that 'these technologies stimulate students' curiosity and improve their engagement in class.'

Meta reported that the education product will be rolled out in late 2024 to educational institutions with students ages 13 and older. The product will initially be released in 20 markets, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Japan, where Meta Quest for Business is deployed.
