Humanoid robot developer Sanctuary AI forms strategic partnership with automaker

Sanctuary AI is a robot development company founded in 2018, and is conducting research and development of humanoid robots equipped with AI. The humanoid robot 'Phoenix' developed by Sanctuary AI is equipped with object recognition functions and robotic hands that reproduce human hands, and can be used for a variety of purposes. Sanctuary AI has announced a new strategic partnership with Magna, an automotive manufacturer. Sanctuary AI is already developing general-purpose AI robots for Magna's automotive manufacturing process. Magna aims to use Sanctuary AI's robots in multiple parts of the automotive manufacturing process.

This is not the first time that humanoid robots have been involved in automobile manufacturing. On January 18, 2024, robotics developer Figure announced that it would supply humanoid robots to BMW.
