Waymo is a company developing fully self-driving cars under the umbrella of Google's parent company Alphabet, and has already begun testing fully self-driving robotaxis in multiple areas such as San Francisco and Phoenix. On October 26, 2023, it was announced that the ability to hail Waymo's fully self-driving cars using the Uber ride-hailing app will be available in Phoenix.

The steps to hail a fully self-driving car using the Uber app are as follows: First, set the type of car you want to call and the destination using the same procedure as when calling a car driven by a human.

If the fully self-driving car is available after route settings etc. are completed, the following notification will be displayed. If you want to ride a fully self-driving car, tap 'Accept ride' in the notification.

Now, a fully self-driving car will take you to your destination instead of a human.

The ability to hail Waymo's fully self-driving cars with the Uber app is available only in Phoenix at the time of writing, and will soon be available in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Austin.
