The long-awaited ultimate showdown will be held, and the Netflix movie 'Baki Hanma vs. Kengan Ashura' will be produced and distributed



A special stage was held at AnimeJapan 2024 to provide information on anime currently streaming and those to be released on Netflix. Along with announcing the release date for 'Kengan Ashura' Season 2 Part 2, it was also announced that the Netflix movie 'Hanma Baki VS Kengan Ashura,' based on collaborative art with 'Hanma Baki,' will be produced and released.

'Kengan Ashura' is a battle action manga serialized in 'Ura Sunday' and 'Manga One.' Season 1 of the anime began streaming in 2019, and Season 2 Part 1 began streaming in September 2023.

At this event, it was revealed that the long-awaited sequel, Season 2 Part 2, will begin streaming in August 2024.

Also, a video message from Shimazaki Nobunaga, the voice actor for Baki in 'Hanma Baki,' who was unable to attend the event due to scheduling conflicts, was played and he joined Suzuki in announcing the production of the Netflix film 'Hanma Baki vs. Kengan Ashura.'



The impetus for the production of this film was the original collaborative art that was released in 2020.



Later, when Shimazaki, Suzuki, and the people in charge of both works went to eat, they discussed whether it would be interesting to continue the project rather than ending it there, and after four years it finally came to fruition.

It all started 10 years ago...
A few days after I asked Itagaki-sensei, the creator of the Baki series, to write a recommendation comment for the 'Kengan Ashura' book, I received a phone call saying, 'It's me, Itagaki. Can you bring the manga now?'
I will never forget the day I met Itagaki-sensei at his office and we talked about manga production and martial arts from late at night until the sky began to lighten.
Time passed and Kengan Ashura, which was recommended to me by the author back then, has grown to become so popular that it has many fans all over the world.
So, to repay my debt... I'll challenge you with my fists!!
'Are you going to fight too?'
I know how strong Baki Hanma is, but I can't imagine our Tokita Ouma or any of the Kengan Association fighters losing.
This is a proxy war between Akita Shoten and Shogakukan using Netflix as a platform.
I'm going to ask for a favor from the warriors of the underground arena and go and beat them down!

When 'Kengan Ashura' first began serialization, I was excited and followed the series from the very first chapter, thinking, 'This amazing work has begun in Ura Sunday!' As for the obi comment that Kobayashi mentioned, even though I was in charge at the time, I had no idea that Itagaki-sensei would be commenting on it, and it wasn't until I heard the comment from him that I realized that this was our first collaboration. Although our works share many commonalities, the worlds of our works have never crossed paths except in this obi comment.
However, in 2021, the two worlds of Baki will intersect for the first time in a tribute manga commemorating the 30th anniversary of the series. Thanks to Sandrovich Yabako's deep knowledge of the Baki world and Daromeon's fighting scenes that rival those of the Baki series, it is no exaggeration to say that the bridge between the two works has become a reality thanks to the efforts of these two people.
And today, we are pleased to announce that Netflix will be releasing a collaboration anime with the largest martial arts organization in the manga world. The opponent is the work that Itagaki-sensei said in the obi comment 10 years ago that he 'seems like he's going to catch up.' The 'sexiness' and 'movement' of characters such as Ouma and Raian will not be lacking for the opponent.
However, the 'Baki' series has been leading the fighting manga scene for 30 years. I believe that the underground arena fighters will show the difference in their ranks. At the end of the battle, Retsu Kaioh will say, 'The place where you are is already a place we passed through 20 years ago.'
