FSR is AMD's technology that lowers a game's rendering resolution to ensure performance, then upscales it to the target resolution, improving image quality to near-native levels. Details are explained in the article below.

FSR 3, announced in September 2023, has further upgraded the quality with the introduction of ' Native AA ' image quality mode that improves image quality beyond native resolution and frame interpolation function ' Fluid Motion Frames '. .

FSR 3.1, a minor update to FSR 3, improves temporal stability when stationary and in motion, reducing flickering, jitter, and 'fizziness' around moving objects. It also reduces ghosting, which is the residual image of moving objects, and better retains detail.

Click on the image below to watch a video of the game with 'FSR 2.2' applied. This video shows the game when it is stationary, but you can see that the screen flickers and fluctuates.

On the other hand, the following images with FSR 3.1 applied have significantly reduced flickering and fluctuation.

Ghosting of moving objects has also been significantly reduced with FSR 3.1.

Additionally, the new AMD FidelityFX API makes it easier for developers to debug and enables forward compatibility with updated versions of FSR. It also adds support for the graphics API Vulkan and the Xbox Game Development Kit.

FSR 3.1 will be available for developers at GPUOpen in Q2 2024, and for games later that year. The first game in which FSR 3.1 was tested was ``Ratchet & Clank Parallel Trouble (Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart)'', which is scheduled to be officially compatible with FSR 3.1 in an update in the second half of 2024.

When AMD announced FSR 3 in September 2023, it was available in two games: Forspoken and Knights of Aveum, with 10 more games announced as future titles. The adoption rate of FSR 3 in games has rapidly accelerated since the beginning of 2024, and games such as ``Avatar: Frontier of Pandora'' and ``Farming Simulator 22'' are already compatible. The number of compatible games will continue to increase in the future.
