Qualcomm has announced the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, a SoC for smartphones. Smartphones equipped with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 will be able to run image generation AI and chat AI locally.

The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is positioned as a budget version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, which was released in October 2023. The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 has lower CPU and modem performance than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, but it shares common features such as being able to run more than 30 large-scale language models and generative AI models, and being manufactured using a 4nm process.

According to Qualcomm, smartphones equipped with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 can locally run large language models such as 'Baichuan-7B,' 'Llama 2,' 'Gemini Nano,' and 'Zhipu ChatGLM.'
