The FDA has analyzed powdered products sold in retail stores for lead content. As a result, high concentrations of lead were detected in six types of cinnamon products. The FDA says that the product in question is ``likely to be unsafe if ingested over a long period of time,'' and is asking consumers to discard the product and manufacturers to recall the product. The six cinnamon products in which high levels of lead were detected are as follows:

However, the FDA says, ``Long-term exposure to cinnamon, which contains high levels of lead, may result in adverse health effects, especially for people who have elevated blood lead levels due to other lead exposures.'' We are requesting that the product be discarded due to the risks, and that cinnamon is often found in foods consumed by children, and children may be exposed to high levels of lead.
