checking the appearance and handling, I conducted a benchmark showdown with GeForce RTX 3090 and measured heat and noise. I tried it.

◆Verification environment
The configuration of the PC used for verification is as follows. I am using the press version 511.15 of the GPU driver.

◆Results of various benchmarks
GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER Founders Edition (hereinafter referred to as RTX 4070 SUPER) The following is the result of running '

FINAL FANTASY The image quality was set to high quality and the resolution was set to 3840 x 2160 pixels (4K), resulting in a score of 8377 points.



As a result of running the benchmark with the same settings on GeForce RTX 3090 GD3090-24GEBST (hereinafter referred to as RTX 3090), the score was 8295 points.



As a result of running the official benchmark ' Superposition benchmark ' of the game engine 'UNIGINE' with the resolution set to 8K and the API set to DirectX, the score on the RTX 4070 SUPER was 5859 points.



On the other hand, the RTX 3090 scored 7020 points.



Below are the execution results of

the official benchmark tool that can measure the number of frames generated per minute when rendering an actual project with the 3DCG tool 'Blender'. On RTX 4070 SUPER, 'monster' was 3213.820106 frames per minute, 'junkshop' was 1516.286973 frames per minute, and 'classroom' was 1599.431612 frames per minute.



On the RTX 3090, 'monster' was 2624.785541 frames per minute, 'junkshop' was 1589.609927 frames per minute, and 'classroom' was 1414.669101 frames per minute.



Below are the scores when running the OpenGL version MSI-01 benchmark at a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels (4K) using MSI's benchmark tool '

MSI Kombustor '. RTX 4070 SUPER had 3895 points.



The RTX 3090 had 3701 points.



Below are the results of investigating the hash rate of RandomX in the virtual currency mining tool ' XMRig '. The hash rate of RTX 4070 SUPER was up to 2228.2H/s.



The hash rate of RTX 3090 was 2134.5H/s.



After running multiple benchmark tests, the RTX 4070 SUPER scored higher than the RTX 3090 in most tests except the Superposition benchmark.

◆Check GPU temperature and power consumption with nvidia-smi
I tried measuring GPU temperature and power consumption with NVIDIA's official GPU management tool '

NVIDIA System Management Interface (nvidia-smi) ' while keeping the GPU usage rate at 100% in MSI Kombustor's stress test mode.

The measurement results with RTX 4070 SUPER are below. Fan rotation speed was 48%, GPU temperature was 76 degrees, and power consumption was 218W.



On the other hand, the RTX 3090's fan speed was 78%, GPU temperature was 75 degrees, and power consumption was 343W. In other words, the RTX 4070 SUPER can deliver the same or higher processing performance than the RTX 3090 with lower power consumption.



◆Check for noise caused by fan rotation
When the RTX 4070 SUPER is idle, the fan stops rotating, and there is no noise coming from the graphics board fan.



In order to measure fan noise under high load, we kept the GPU usage at 100% in MSI Kombustor's stress test mode with the PC case closed and the fan spinning.



After 5 minutes with GPU usage at 100%, I removed the case cover and measured the noise, and the noise at a position 10 cm from the graphic board exhaust hole was 53.5 dBA.



By the way, the noise level a few centimeters from the case fan is 52.0dBA. The noise coming from the RTX 4070 SUPER is about the same as the noise coming from other fans, so you won't have to worry about the noise coming from the graphics board even if you remove the cover of your PC case.



◆Check the temperature under high load using infrared thermography
After closing the PC case cover and keeping the GPU usage at 100% for 5 minutes, I removed the cover and measured the temperature of the graphic board using infrared thermography.



The temperature of the exhaust hole is 63.3 degrees.



The temperature of the part where the melting problem occurred in GeForce RTX 4090 was 72.4 degrees.



The temperature of the back panel is 63.0 degrees.



The temperature of the fan part was 60.3 degrees.
