I tried out King Jim's electronic memo pad 'Boogie Board (papery) BB-18,' which is thin and lightweight and can be used just like a sticky note.

King Jim's electronic memo '

Boogie Board ' series has a new product, the ' Boogie Board (papery) BB-18 ', which is as thin and soft as a paper sticky note. There are two sizes, a 100mm x 100mm S size and a 100mm x 150mm M size, and I was able to borrow a sample from King Jim ahead of its release on February 28, 2024, so I actually tried it out.

This is the 'Boogie Board (papery) BB-18', a small size starter kit and a medium size starter kit.

The contents look like this. Two BB-18 bodies, a stylus, app guide, and instruction manual.

Also, although it's easy to overlook, there is a stainless steel sheet for attaching to the protruding part of the package.

We compared the BB-18 M size and stylus with the iPhone 15 Pro MAX. The biggest feature of the BB-18 is that it is very thin, with a thickness of just 0.5mm.

The only part that is slightly thicker is the colored part in the upper left corner of the main unit.

When you stack the S and M sizes together, the size difference is about this.

Stylus included in starter kit.

The tip looks like this. It's not impossible to scratch the screen with your fingernail, but there's a high risk of damaging the screen, so we recommend using a stylus.

One thing that's a little different is that there's a terminal on the bottom of the stylus.

If you touch the round area in the upper left corner of BB-18, anything you have written will be erased.

It is powered by two AAA alkaline batteries, and can be replaced by twisting the clip to remove the screw that appears. The screw is small, so a precision screwdriver is required.

The medium size BB-18 weighs 10g.

The small size weighs 7g.

The stylus weighs 26g.

No special operations are required when using it; simply trace the surface of BB-18 with the stylus to write.

The thickness of the lines you draw will change depending on the pressure you apply to the pen. However, be careful not to apply too much pressure as this can scratch the surface.

The corners have built-in magnets so you can stick it to a refrigerator or other surface.

You can also stack multiple BB-18s on top of each other. The contents will not be erased just by stacking them, so you can store them in a space-saving manner while still keeping the notes.

If you can't stick a magnet to the part, you can stick the included stainless steel sheet. The adhesive sheet on the back cannot be reused, so this time I stuck it with tape.

When you attach the small size BB-18, it looks like this.

I wrote down various notes about what it would be like to actually use it.

I also tried using it for drawing. Since I don't have any artistic talent, I draw by following the RingoRouE Drawing Song .

It has the same smooth writing feel as the previous Boogie Board series, but is closer to a real sticky note, so I felt it was perfect for people who want to stick small notes on things. You can't save what you write on BB-18 as it is, but you can scan it and save it using the 'Boogie Board SCAN' app.
