With version 60 of the SDK for Unity and native code, Meta has released a new version of OpenXR for face tracking. The Meta Avatars SDK has not yet been updated to support this version, but third-party avatar software will be able to support tongue tracking by updating their SDK to version 60.

Mr. korejan, who develops the VRCFT-ALXR module for OpenXR, updated the module to enable tongue tracking and filmed virtual tongue movements.

When Mr. korejan sticks out his tongue, the avatar in VRChat also sticks out his tongue.

Meta Quest Pro was originally a device capable of face tracking and eye tracking, and with this update it can be said that the range of virtual expressions has been further expanded.

However, since there are almost no examples of third-party software for Meta Quest Pro adopting face tracking, the news site UploadVR points out that ``many standalone software will not support tongue tracking.'' We analyzed that the reason for this is that the high-end headset, which was initially released at a high price of over 220,000 yen, sold very poorly and there was little software that was compatible with it.
