Ming-Chi Kuo , an analyst who handles highly accurate leaks related to Apple, has reported that the release of the cheaper Apple Vision Pro will be delayed to 2027, and the Apple Vision Pro equipped with the M5 will be released in 2025.

Apple released the spatial computer ' Apple Vision Pro ' in February 2024. Although Apple released the Apple Vision Pro as an AR/VR headset, it has been reported that production is being reduced .

One of the reasons why demand for Apple Vision Pro is not growing as expected is its price. The selling price of Apple Vision Pro in Japan is very expensive, at 599,800 yen (tax included) for a model with 256GB of storage. Therefore, it was reported that Apple will release a cheaper version of Apple Vision Pro for about 300,000 yen in 2025.

However, Ming-Chi Kuo has reported that the release of the low-cost Apple Vision Pro has been delayed to 2027. According to Kuo, the production of the low-cost Apple Vision Pro was postponed some time ago. Instead, Kuo pointed out that Apple will release the Apple Vision Pro with the unannounced Apple silicon M5 in 2025. It is unclear whether this Apple Vision Pro will have other new features or changes.
As I understand it, production of the cheaper Vision Pro has been delayed beyond 2027 for a while now. This means Apple's only new head-mounted display device in 2025 will be the Vision Pro with an upgraded M5 processor.

I think what really drove Apple to delay the cheaper…
'I think the real reason Apple delayed the release of the cheaper version of the Apple Vision Pro is that simply lowering the price doesn't create a success story. This is similar to the HomePod situation, where even after releasing the cheaper HomePod mini , Apple's smart speaker failed to become a mainstream product in the smart speaker market,' Kuo said, speculating on why Apple delayed the release of the cheaper Apple Vision Pro.
In addition, Kuo said, 'Apple products are generally priced higher than competitors' products, including the HomePod mini. Even what Apple considers to be an 'affordable Apple Vision Pro' may still be more expensive than competitors' products. In other words, it all depends on whether you can provide a successful use case.'
Apple's prices are high across the board vs. competitors, even HomePod mini. That's another issue—what Apple considers 'affordable' for Vision Pro might still be pricey vs. competitors. So it all comes down to whether they can provide successful use cases.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, who is well-versed in Apple leaks, also reported that Apple is planning to update the Apple Silicon in the Apple Vision Pro. However, Gurman did not mention when this updated Apple Vision Pro will be released. Gurman also reported that Apple is continuing to develop a cheaper version of the Apple Vision Pro, but did not mention when this cheaper version will be released.
Gurman is also reportedly 'seriously considering' a glasses-like device that connects to the iPhone. The device would reportedly be 'similar to the glasses devices offered by companies like Xreal ,' and the benefit to Apple would be 'to strengthen the iPhone as the centerpiece of its ecosystem, offering a much more popular option than the $3,500 Apple Vision Pro.'
