How much performance does the 96-core 192-thread CPU ``Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX'' with an actual selling price of over 1.8 million yen have?
The ultra-high-end CPU 'Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7000WX' series and 'Ryzen Threadripper 7000' series with up to 96 cores and 192 threads were released on November 22, 2023. Several overseas media outlets have published benchmark results for such monster-spec CPUs, so I've summarized them.

◆Benchmark results
Below are the benchmark results of Geekbench (version 5.4.1) published by HotHardware. The multi-core thread score of Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX is 56,659 points, which is far superior to the score of the rival model 'Xeon w9-3495X' (36,814 points). Also, the relatively inexpensive Ryzen Threadripper 7980X (51,782 points) and Ryzen Threadripper 7970X (40,158 points) also exceed the score of Xeon w9-3495X.
The score of Speedometer 2.0, which can measure the processing performance of a web browser, is like this. Speedometer 2.0 is not a benchmark assuming a super-multicore environment, so the scores of the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7000WX series and Ryzen Threadripper 7000 series are lower than the scores of the Core i9 14900K and Ryzen 9 7950X. Still, HotHardware praises both series for scoring close to general purpose CPUs in benchmarks that aren't designed for ultra-core-rich environments.
Below are the file compression performance benchmark results of Ryzen Threadripper 7980X and Ryzen Threadripper 7970X conducted by AnandTech. Both CPUs have significantly higher scores than the Xeon w9-3495X.
Both CPUs also significantly outperformed the Xeon w9-3495X in terms of compressed file decompression performance.
Both CPUs have achieved very good results in tests that require multi-threaded performance, but they may be defeated by cheaper CPUs in tests where higher clock frequencies are more advantageous. For example, a benchmark test that measures video encoding performance using libx264 revealed that both CPUs can process fewer frames per second than the Core i9 14900K and Ryzen 9 7950X.
Phoronix has verified the performance of Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX, Ryzen Threadripper 7980X, and Ryzen Threadripper 7970X in a Linux environment. As a result of measuring the compile time of the same project using the game engine 'Godot', all three types of CPU were able to complete compilation in a significantly shorter time than the comparison CPU.
The base clock of Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX is 2.5GHz and the base clock of Ryzen Threadripper 7980X is 3.2GHz. Therefore, depending on the type of processing, Ryzen Threadripper 7980X may outperform Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX. For example, the Linux kernel compilation process can be completed in less time on Ryzen Threadripper 7980X than on Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX. However, if the compiler's multithread optimization advances, the results may be reversed.
