I went to Ube Shinkawa Station, where 'Machijuu Evangelion Part 3' started at the filming location of 'Shin Evangelion'

Ube City, Yamaguchi Prefecture is the birthplace of director Hideaki Anno, known for the Evangelion series, and since it became a filming location for Shin Evangelion Theatrical Version, Ube City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, has been designated as a city since 2021, which marks the city's 100th anniversary. We have started an event called `` Machiju Evangelion '' where you can feel ``Eva'' in various places in the city. This time, the third installment was being held, so I went to Ube Shinkawa Station, which symbolically appears in 'Shin Evangelion the Movie'.

This is the location of Ubeshinkawa Station. This is a station on the Ube Line that connects Shin-Yamaguchi Station and Ube Station on the Sanyo Main Line. In addition, trains on the Onoda Line, which connects the neighboring Ino Station and Onoda Station on the Sanyo Main Line, also run, so from the Shinkansen or Sanyo Main Line direction, you can take the Ube Line from Shin-Yamaguchi Station, or the Ube Line from Ube Station. It can be reached by three routes: From Onoda Station on the Onoda Line. The Onoda Line route is difficult to choose because it is a circuitous route and there are few trains during the day, but the other two routes require different travel times depending on the time of day.

First, we arrived at Shin-Yamaguchi Station.

This time, it was faster to go via Ube Station, so I will take the Sanyo Main Line to Ube Station.

In contrast to the Ube Line, which runs along the coastline, the Sanyo Main Line runs along the Atto River, crossing over Mt.

Arrived at Ube Station in 24 minutes. Change here to the Ube Line. I waited 34 minutes for the train to depart.

I arrived at my destination, Ube Shinkawa Station, in 11 minutes.

It was used as a filming location for 'Shin Evangelion Theatrical Version,' so if you've seen the movie, there's a bench that says, 'This is that.'

The campus overpass brings to mind director Anno running furiously with his iPhone in hand.

There are remains of a fountain on the station platform.

Platform 1 is on the side of the station building, and platforms 3 and 4 are beyond the overpass. There are no fixed platforms for each direction or route, and the service is operated flexibly according to the timetable.

The station premises was quite large and multiple vehicles were parked there.

Looking back towards the platform from the station ticket gate.

The artwork by the art club of Ube City Momoyama Junior High School, which was displayed inside the station, depicts Ube City. There is a red robot-like thing drawn on the left, but it is not a robot.

In the waiting area of the station is an illustration of Eva that says ``Welcome to Ube Shinkawa Station.''

This is what the station looks like.

When you exit the station, you will see the bus terminal in front of the Ube City Transportation Bureau and Funatetsu Bus.

There was a banner saying 'Machiju Evangelion'.

To get to Tokiwa Park, where the Spear of Longinus is stuck, from Ube-Shinkawa Station, you can take a short ride from the Ube City Transportation Bureau's Tokiwa Park bus stop.
