Google announces 'Chromebook Plus', equipped with 12th generation Intel Core i3 or higher processor, 1080p IPS LCD, more than 8GB of RAM, and more than 128GB of storage



Google has announced the Chromebook Plus , which has twice the performance of Chromebooks released in 2022, and comes with built-in Google apps and powerful AI features. You can also use Google Photo's eraser magic and Photoshop.

The minimum requirements for Chromebook Plus are as follows.

CPU: 12th generation Intel Core i3 or newer processor or AMD Ryzen 3 7000 series or newer processor
RAM: 8GB or more
Storage: 128GB or more
Webcam: 1080p or higher with temporal noise reduction
Display: Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS LCD or higher display

Along with the announcement of Chromebook Plus, Google also announced that it will open up some of the premium features of its video conferencing tool Google Meet to Chromebook Plus. Chromebook Plus' built-in AI and 1080p camera enhance call clarity and lighting, cancel background noise, and easily blur your background with just a few taps. It is also compatible with video conferencing apps such as Google Meet, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams.



In addition to Google apps, you can also use creative tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Express, and LumaFusion. Along with this, Adobe has announced that Adobe Photoshop, which runs on the web, will be introduced to Chromebook Plus. Additionally, when you purchase a Chromebook Plus, you get 3 months of Photoshop and Express on the web for free.




The Google Photos app that comes pre-installed on Chromebook Plus has an eraser magic feature that allows you to easily erase unwanted objects from your photos. The Google Photos app includes a variety of editing features, including HDR effects that enhance brightness and contrast, and the ability to add portrait-style blur to existing photos.



Additionally, new features will be added to Chromebook Plus in 2024. New features coming soon include an image generator that allows you to generate custom wallpapers using simple templated text prompts.



Additionally, Google is working on a feature that will add generated AI-powered backgrounds to video calls. This feature will be available in any video calling app with Chromebook Plus.



Orders for Chromebook Plus will begin in the United States from October 8, 2023, and will be released in Canada and Europe on October 9. Sales prices start at $399 (approximately 60,000 yen) for all models.

According to Google CEO Sundar Pichai, HP's Chromebook Plus will be manufactured in India. This will be the first Chromebook made in India, 'giving Indian students easy access to an affordable and secure computing device,' CEO Pichai said.
