◆Galaxy Chromebook Plus
The Galaxy Chromebook Plus, which will be released in October 2024, will have a 15.6-inch OLED display, weigh just 1.17 kg, and be 11.8 mm thick, which Google describes as the 'thinnest and lightest' Chromebook. The processor is an Intel Core 3 100U, with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

This model has a 'Quick Insert key' added to the Caps Lock key, which allows you to quickly access Gemini-based functions by pressing it. These functions, which run on the Gemini platform, support efficient work, such as the 'Help me write' function that supports drafting of text, 'Live Translate' that allows real-time translation, displaying a list of recently opened websites, and accessing Google Drive.

At the time of writing, the Quick Insert key will only be available on the Galaxy Chromebook Plus. However, existing Chromebook users can already perform a similar function with the keyboard shortcut '

Launcher key + F.' Google said, 'In the future, the Quick Insert key will be available on more Chromebook Plus devices, and will include features such as launching AI-based image generation.'

The Galaxy Chromebook Plus will be priced at $699, but a specific release date has not been announced.

◆Chromebook Duet
The Chromebook Duet, which Lenovo will release on October 13, 2024, features an 11-inch detachable display that allows you to easily switch between tablet and laptop modes. It is equipped with a MediaTek Kompanio 838 processor, as well as up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

Like the Galaxy Chromebook Plus, the Chromebook Duet can also use AI functions that run on the Gemini platform, making it possible to work more efficiently than ever before. The Chromebook Duet also supports the Lenovo USI Pen 2 , allowing you to take notes and create illustrations using a stylus pen.

The Chromebook Duet is priced at $339 (approximately 48,700 yen).

◆New features of Chromebook
Google has announced that in the automatic update for Chromebook Plus laptops in October 2024, it will introduce a 'Help me read' feature that uses AI to create summaries of PDFs, articles, and websites, Live Translate, an AI-powered recorder app that can automatically transcribe text, and a video calling function with improved sound performance.

In addition, the company announced that it will add a feature to all Chromebooks that will allow users to chat with Gemini without opening a browser, as well as a feature that will make it easier to search for files in the start menu.
