Case 1 where the eyes turned blue
The ``first case of blue eye discoloration after administration of favipiravir'' was reported in India in December 2021 . The person whose eyes turned blue was a 20-year-old man who was infected with the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2). After testing positive for SARS-CoV-2, the man took vitamin C, zinc, and vitamin A. 'Vitamin D' and 'Ivermectin' were administered for two days, but the symptoms did not improve. Therefore, I switched to favipiravir, and my eyes turned blue on the second day of starting favipiravir.

An eye examination confirmed a bluish discoloration of the cornea. On the other hand, no abnormalities were found in the lens, etc., and the skin, nails, and oral cavity were not discolored. The doctor stopped administering favipiravir considering the possibility that the cause of the eye discoloration was the administration of favipiravir. The man's eye color reverted after treatment was discontinued.

Case 2 where the eyes turned blue
In April 2023, a 6-month-old boy infected with SARS-CoV-2 was found to have discolored eyes. The boy was given Favipiravir tablets and syrup, and his eyes turned blue 18 hours after the start of treatment.

Favipiravir was continued after the eye discoloration until COVID-19 symptoms abated. Favipiravir administration lasted for 3 days, and a return to normal eye color was observed 5 days after stopping administration.

A case where the eyes and nails showed fluorescence
The first report of ``a case of eyes turning blue after administration of Favipiravir'' was reported in December 2021, but in July 2021, ``A case of eyes showing fluorescence after administration of Favipiravir'' was reported. Ta. Fluorescence in the eyes was confirmed in a 20-year-old male photographer who was infected with SARS-CoV-2 and administered favipiravir, and was using an ultraviolet light in his photographic equipment at home. He said he noticed that his eyes were fluorescent. The man took a selfie with his parents under UV light and took it to the hospital for comparison.

On the right side of the photo below is the man who reported the symptoms. You can see that the eyes are shining white compared to the male mother on the left.

Below is a picture taken with the male father (right). Again only the eyes of men (left) are shining white.

Looking at Photo C, you can see that the man's hand and the favipiravir solution are similarly glowing white.

A case where nails and hair showed fluorescence
A case in which fluorescence was confirmed by irradiating UV light after administration of favipiravir was also

reported in June 2021. In this case, four women who had been given favipiravir after being infected with SARS-CoV-2 had their nails and hair fluorescing when exposed to ultraviolet light.

As mentioned above, there have been multiple reports of discoloration of parts of the body after favipiravir was administered after infection with SARS-CoV-2, but the detailed cause has not been clarified.
