In commemoration of the 50th anniversary, Acerbis was promoting the 'AC50' project aiming to establish a world record for oil-free mileage on a motorcycle. The vehicle that challenges the world record uses a customized one based on Honda's 125cc motorcycle 'Monkey'. Honda's official website claims that the Monkey's fuel efficiency is 70.5km/L, making it the perfect vehicle for long-distance driving without refueling.

The tank capacity of the MONKEY is 5.6L, and by simple calculation, it can travel 394.8km with one refueling. That's plenty of mileage for a 125cc bike, but not enough to set a world record.

Therefore, Acerbis created a huge tank that can refuel up to 108 L of gasoline.

When a huge tank is attached to a motorcycle, it looks like this. The fuel tank covers the entire vehicle.

Below is the custom monkey that was finally completed after painting. Gas tanks stick out on both sides of the vehicle.

The trajectory that the custom monkey ran is below. Departing from Albino, Italy, it passes through Austria, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway and many other countries.

Unrefueled running continued at about 70 km / h, and three drivers took turns driving. The total mileage reached 4183.8km and was certified as a Guinness World Record.

For reference , the distance from Japan's northernmost island of Hokkaido 'Cape Soya' to the southernmost tip of Kyushu's main island 'Sata Cape' without using the expressway is 2762km. In other words, Acerbis' custom monkey can traverse the Japanese archipelago without refueling.
