OpenAI has released the iOS application of high-performance chat AI 'ChatGPT'. In addition to chatting with ChatGPT in the app, it also supports voice input using the transcription AI 'Whisper'.

However, at the time of writing the article, it was published only in the United States, and even if it was accessed from Japan, it was displayed as 'App unavailable'.
Therefore, when I tried to access again using an Apple ID whose country of residence was set to the United States, I was able to access the distribution page successfully. Tap 'GET' to install the application.
When the authentication screen is displayed, authenticate with Touch ID or Face ID and proceed with the installation.
Tap 'OPEN' when installation is completed.
When you start for the first time, you will be asked to log in with your OpenAI account, so tap 'Log in'.
Enter your email address and tap 'Continue'.
Enter the password and tap 'Continue'.
When the welcome screen is displayed, tap 'Continue'.
Now you can use the ChatGPT app. With the ChatGPT app, you can enter sentences in the input field at the bottom of the screen and talk to AI.
Enter 'Hello' and tap the send button.
Then, AI replied in natural Japanese.
The ChatGPT app also supports voice input using the transcription AI 'Whisper'. To perform voice input, tap the button at the right end of the text input field.
For the first time, you will be asked for permission to access the microphone, so tap 'OK'.
After tapping the button, speak the sentence you want to input, and tap 'Tap to stop recording' when you finish speaking.
Then, the spoken content is transcribed and automatically entered in the input field. Then tap the send button.
AI responded immediately. The transcription accuracy is very high, so if you want to enter long sentences, voice input is recommended rather than using the keyboard.
The ChatGPT app is only available for the US at the time of article creation, but the range of offers will be expanded within the next few weeks. An Android app is also planned to be released.
