GIGAZINE starts delivering new news on Twitter alternative leading candidate SNS 'Bluesky' & explains how it works
I started distributing GIGAZINE's new news on SNS ' Bluesky ', which is attracting attention as a leading candidate for switching from Twitter, so I tried to summarize the circumstances up to the start of news distribution. There is also useful information for those trying to 'auto-post posts with link cards'.

Bluesky is a decentralized SNS developed with the goal of 'allowing users to manage their own data'. When the Twitter icon was changed to Shiba Inu in April 2023, the number of views of the article reporting the release of Bluesky's iOS version application exploded, and GIGAZINE readers who are worried about the future of Twitter are expecting it as a migration destination. I knew that
GIGAZINE also tried to create a Bluesky account because the attention to Bluesky was so high, but an invitation code is required to create a Bluesky account, and even if you register on the wait list, no invitation code will be sent. I was unable to review. So, in the article that reported the release of the Android version of the app , I asked the readers, 'Give me an invitation code!' . Bluesky account creation procedure and usability are summarized in detail in the following article.
'Bluesky' account creation procedure & review like this when actually using it, it's very similar to Twitter, so it's pretty ant as a transfer / moving destination - GIGAZINE
As a result of actually using Bluesky, it turned out that the appearance and usability are quite similar to Twitter, and it can be recommended as a migration destination from Twitter. Furthermore, since it became clear that links and link cards can be embedded during posting, we decided to perform `` Immediate delivery of new news of GIGAZINE '' like Twitter and Facebook official accounts.
New arrival news distribution on Twitter that has been going on for many years looks like this. 'Article title' and 'link card containing the beginning of the article' are displayed in the post. Twitter automatically generates a link card when you include a URL in your post, so it's pretty easy to implement new news distribution.
However, Bluesky did not generate a link card simply by automatically posting the article title & URL.
When I was at a loss because I could not generate a link card well even by trial and error, I found an article entitled 'How to post a post with a link card with Bluesky's AT Protocol'.

According to the article, you can include a link card in your post by following the steps below.
1.Obtain the OGP of the URL to be posted on the link card
2. Download the image from the OG Image URL described in OGP
3.Upload image to Bluesky PDS and get reference link
4. Post a post with a link card using the reference link
As a result of implementing it according to the content of the article, it is now possible to create a post that includes the 'article title' and 'link card containing the beginning of the article' as shown below.
Then, the completed automatic posting system was applied to the GIGAZINE official account, and the immediate distribution of new news was started from May 17, 2023.
◆ How to find a GIGAZINE account
iOS users can tap the link below to launch the Bluesky app with the GIGAZINE official account open.

For Android users, tapping the link will not launch the Bluesky app, so search for 'GIGAZINE' on the user search screen.
In addition, the GIGAZINE editorial department is working hard to issue Bluesky invitation codes for editorial staff and proliferate them, and eventually we plan to be able to send invitation codes to GIGAZINE readers. stay tuned.
