``Memory saver'' function that saves memory in Chrome has appeared, and ``energy saving mode'' that makes the battery last longer - GIGAZINE
Memory saver is a function that reduces memory usage by up to 40% by releasing memory of unused inactive tabs. Tabs whose memory has been freed as inactive tabs will be reloaded when displayed again. On the other hand, energy saving mode disables smooth scrolling and website animation effects to save battery consumption when the battery level of your laptop or Chromebook drops below 20%.
And with Google Chrome 110 stable released in February 2023, memory saver and energy saving mode are now on by default. To check or change your settings, click the menu icon in the upper right corner of Chrome and open Settings.
Click 'Performance' on the left side of the screen.
Then, the setting screen for memory saver and energy saving mode opened.
You can easily turn memory saver on or off, or click Add and enter the URL of a specific website to avoid automatically reclaiming memory for inactive tabs. .
By default, the energy saving mode turns on when the remaining battery level is 20% or less, but it is also possible to select 'Turn on when the computer is not connected to the power supply'.
When energy saving mode is on, you will see a leaf icon in the upper right corner of the screen.
