◆ I tried face authentication of Google Pixel 7 Pro
You can set face authentication during initial setup, but you can set it later even if you skipped face authentication setup during initial setup. To set up face recognition, first select 'Security' from the settings.
Then tap 'Unlock with face and fingerprint authentication'.
Tap 'Face recognition'.
When the explanation screen of the face authentication setting is displayed, read it while scrolling down.
After reading the explanation to the end, tap 'Agree'.
When the following screen is displayed, tap 'Start'.
After that, follow the on-screen instructions to register your face.
When registration is completed, tap 'Done'.
Now you can unlock your Pixel 7 Pro with face recognition. However, in this state, the procedure 'display lock screen → face authentication success → tap unlock button' is required to unlock. If you enable 'Skip lock screen' on the face authentication setting screen, you can unlock smoothly by skipping the step of 'tapping the unlock button'.
You can check how face authentication is performed with Pixel 7 Pro in the following movie. If you face the front camera of Pixel 7 Pro, you can unlock it instantly by pressing the lock button. However, it did not react at all while wearing a mask, and had to be unlocked by means other than facial recognition. Also, it was impossible to register the face while wearing a mask.
I tried fingerprint authentication of Pixel 7 Pro
Since I found that face authentication is impossible when wearing a mask, I will register a fingerprint on the main unit and try fingerprint authentication. To register your fingerprint, tap 'Fingerprint authentication' on the 'Unlock with face and fingerprint authentication' screen.
If you see a description of fingerprint authentication settings, scroll down to read it.
After reading to the end, tap 'Agree'.
When the following screen is displayed, tap 'Start'.
Then, you will be asked to touch the bottom of the screen, so follow the instructions on the screen and repeat the touch with the finger you want to register.
OK when the registration completion screen is displayed. Now you can unlock with fingerprint authentication.

As mentioned above, the Pixel 7 Pro's facial recognition does not work when wearing a mask. For this reason, it is recommended to enable both face authentication and fingerprint authentication, and use fingerprint authentication when wearing a mask.
