Experience that when I bought a USB3.0 device from China, it was 'USB2.0 just made blue'

While USB3.0 has about 10 times faster data transfer speed than USB2.0, the terminals look almost the same, so it is recommended to make the insulator part blue so that it can be easily identified. It has been reported that when I tried using a USB3.0 device purchased from a Chinese seller at an online auction, it was just a USB2.0 with a blue terminal.

USB 3.0 Blues? | Majenko Technologies

Majenko Technologies, an electronics store in the United Kingdom, wanted to capture video output from HDMI and decided to buy a video capture that converts HDMI to USB. So I searched on eBay and found that Chinese sellers sell USB 2.0 and USB 3.0.

The left is the USB 2.0 video capture considered by Majenko Technologies, and the right is the USB 3.0 video capture.

Since USB 2.0 requires compression of video, Majenko Technologies chose USB 3.0. The video capture that arrived a few days later was a nice looking product and was recognized properly when plugged into a USB port. However, when I checked the video, it turned out that it was compressed for some reason. When I checked it with the command to output the connected USB device, it was recognized as USB 2.0.

So, Majenko Technologies looked at the USB terminal with a microscope. The following are general USB3.0 terminals. You can see that there are a total of 9 pins, 5 in the back and 4 in the front.

On the other hand, the video capture terminal that Majenko Technologies bought on eBay has only four pins. In other words, this was USB 2.0, which simply turned the insulator part blue.

At the end of Majenko Technologies, half a joke, 'What the hell is that? Just coloring it blue doesn't make it USB3.0.'
