One person was selected as a 'winner' from those who applied in the 'drawing' category. In the final judging, in addition to the editor-in-chief and editorial department judging, in addition to the reader judging by GSC members, we also receive comments from guest judges.
The winner this time was cygnusil , who applied in December 2021. Among the drawing departments, we judged it as 'creating a monochrome name from the script'. We asked them to perform 'work name from the text script' and 'create a frontispiece illustration of the work' as the judging tasks, and we are evaluating it together with the initial portfolio.
Points of examination by the editorial department
Regarding the title of the work, first of all, the power of the picture is simply strong, and not only is the picture good, but by making it a form that 'cuts out' when the depiction is loose, the place where you want to show the character properly becomes a draw. The ingenuity like that was attractive. I feel that there is a high awareness of how to show the fact that the full-body picture of the character, which is often avoided, is included in the work and in the illustration plan. However, the script is quite fast-paced, and there was a part that could not be sharpened a little from the middle stage to the punch line, so I set the 'scene to be particularly enthusiastic' according to the story and the rhythm to the punch line. I think it will be even better if you can catch.

When viewed as a manga, it is quite important to ask whether the flow of the story can be divided into frames, and it is great to be able to clear this part. Especially when the conversation continues, I try not to be monotonous, and I draw it in a variety of ways, so I feel that I am very conscious of this part. Also, the density of where and how much to draw is important, and the control there is in place. I'm hoping that I will continue to be aware of Toru Hatsushi, as I have properly filled in the areas that tend to be cut short. The picture and composition itself are good, but there are some parts that are a little difficult to understand, but since it seems to be a type in which the quantity and quality of drawing are clearly proportional, those who feel that there is still enough growth margin than the current degree of perfection. I want to evaluate it.

Anyway, I think that the main script is two female characters, but although the character's picture itself looks cute and attractive, I felt that there was not much like a 'decision piece' in which the character decided the pose. .. I also want to see the scenes where you look like a queen, the scene where you cosplay, the scene where you hug the last, and so on. I think that the flow and the picture are well dropped while the script is not often described. I thought it would be good if the story could be shined if the tempo and ingenuity of the picture, which could not be imagined in the script, could be put out as an arrangement.
All of the frontispiece roughs were good and had variations. It was good to be able to understand the nature and relationships of the characters at a glance without knowing the work. In the name, I felt that the distribution of dividing the page from the script with only lines and writing was appropriate. There is no problem in allocating the number of frames for each page, so if you make the composition stand out a little more in the frames only at the key points (mainly when the girl is in focus), it will be more gorgeous and eye-catching. I thought. In addition, the stage called 'inside the company', which is not set in detail in the script, is arranged with a light personality to the mob employees, and the rough background also makes it easy to understand the stage. I felt it was wonderful. There was a part where I was at a loss because the flow and description of the frames were a little difficult to understand. Since it is necessary to judge the part that becomes color in drawing by black and white rough in the name, it is also important to ask 'Is it transmitted accurately?' By adding a symbolically easy-to-understand description.

Second stage: Judging after adding necessary items such as 'Episode 1 manuscript' and 'Plot until the final episode' in a format that is more conscious of serialization. At the stage of advancing to this point, I promise to serialize in almost some form.

Final stage: A serialized manuscript will be judged by the editor-in-chief of GIGAZINE + evaluation by GIGAZINE secret club members + guest judgment such as writers serialized in GIGAZINE will be conducted to determine the grand prize winner comprehensively. In addition, we promise to serialize when it remains in the final stage.

・ 'Drawing only' application method:
It is OK if you can show the URL of the portfolio and the collection of works on the Manga Award application form . Please write 'Apply only for drawing' in the 'Other' column. There is no limit to the number of illustrations and manga for the portfolio, and there is no line that requires more than one, but the more you have, the easier it is to get an evaluation.
・ How to apply for 'name composition'
We are also looking for a 'name composition' that uses the original script of the text as the name. As with drawing only, please send as much as you can about your portfolio, past work names and manga works.

◆ Original script application guidelines
・ In addition to the first episode manuscript , prepare a plot (synopsis) from the first episode to the final episode . For the synopsis, please describe the flow of the entire work in detail on the first page of the manuscript in 100 to 800 characters.
・ In the first screening, we will see the fun of a simple story and the completeness of one story. If you proceed from the second screening to the final screening, you will be conscious of actually creating the original manga, and will judge 'Is it possible to constantly create a script written by To?' Until the final episode.
・ If you are applying for 'original only' and only text, it is okay if you paste the text in Google Docs and then enter the address of the shared link in the application form. In that case, please do not edit the document after applying.
