SpaceX succeeds in the first civilian-only space travel mission 'Inspiration 4'

'Inspiration 4 ' is a civilian-only space travel mission prepared by SpaceX , a private space development company by Elon Musk , for Jared Isaacman, CEO of accounting company Shift4 Payments. This Inspiration 4 was a success, and space travel with only civilians was realized for the first time.

Inspiration4 is a SpaceX spacecraft Crew Dragon carrying four people, civilian CEO Isaacman, earth scientist Sian Proctor, doctor Hayley Arceneaux, and data engineer Chrissen Broski. It is a mission to challenge the trip. A reusable rocket, the Falcon 9, is used to launch the spacecraft, taking on the challenge of space travel by climbing into orbit around the Earth without specially trained astronauts and then returning to Earth. doing.

The Crew Dragon with four people was launched using Falcon 9 on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 20:02.

Crew Dragon will not dock to the International Space Station (ISS) in Inspiration 4, but the four will enjoy a space trip of 360 miles from the ground for about three days.

During the space flight, the four are livestreaming on YouTube from within Crew Dragon.

After completing a three-day space trip, Crew Dragon began the process of re-entry into the atmosphere around 18:11 on Saturday, September 18, 2021. The atmospheric reentry process is carried out by Crew Dragon's fully autonomous process, during which the four crew members are experiencing a communication blackout of approximately 7 minutes due to the plasma covering the Crew Dragon. The Crew Dragon then deployed a parachute at around 19:02 and landed about 30 miles east of the Kennedy Space Center at around 19:06.

The following is a video that captures the moment of landing.

At the time of re-entry into the atmosphere, the outside of Crew Dragon has risen to 3500 degrees Fahrenheit (about 1900 degrees Celsius), but the crew is protected by spacesuits and enhanced air conditioning of the spacecraft. Upon re-entry into the atmosphere, Crew Dragon decelerates from 350 mph to 100 mph in the first stage of parachute deployment. The first parachute was thrown away at an altitude of about 1800 feet (about 550 meters) within a minute of deployment, and the second parachute was deployed. This caused the Crew Dragon to slow down to 15 mph at the time of landing.

CEO Isaacman, who made his first successful space trip with only civilians, said to Mission Control after landing, 'Thanks to SpaceX. For us (Crew Dragon) was a very difficult vehicle, but ours. The mission is still in its infancy. '

Inspiration 4 collects data to support scientific research to investigate how microgravity affects the human body. According to media reports, Mr. Arseno measures the internal pressure of the head.

The Crew Dragon used for Inspiration 4 this time is an aircraft named 'Resilience' that was used when the astronaut was sent to the ISS about a year ago.
