The world's first PC equipped with 'air cooling system that breathes by magnetic force' is born

One of the problems in building a high-performance PC is how to cool it. Air cooling systems with multiple huge fans tend to be noisy, but if the CPU and graphics board aren't cooled enough, the performance of the PC will be significantly reduced and in the worst case it will be damaged.

Matt of DIY Perks , a YouTube channel that makes various devices such as PCs and audio equipment, created a strange cooling system that pumps a large amount of air to a PC with a magnetic pump, and released the video. ..

'This is my own'bellows system',' said Matt.

Inside the transparent box, the acrylic plate is moving from side to side. Since there is no cooling fan that is often found in cooling systems for PCs, at first glance it is not clear what the device is for.

Initially, Matt was thinking of a device that would move the central plate with a motor. However, this did not solve the noise problem.

Therefore, Mr. Matt came up with a method that applies the principle of a magnet embedded in a tube and a

linear motor.

This method was certainly quiet, but faced the problem of weak momentum and slow movement.

Through such trial and error, Mr. Matt arrived at the idea of moving a magnet with water enclosed in a tube and moving the bellows with that magnetic force.

To actually make a cooling system, first make a

box with medium density fiberboard (MDF) and glass plate ...

Next, two acrylic plates are pasted together to make a plate for bellows.

Magnets are arranged in a ring shape on the bellows plate, and this is fixed to the magnet in the tube by magnetic force to connect the plate and the tube.

The magnet inside the tube is controlled by a pump that pumps water into the tube.

In this way, Mr. Matt's 'bellows system' was completed.

The point of this cooling system is quietness. Thanks to the magnets attached to both ends, the acrylic plate turns smoothly and quietly.

Once the cooling system is complete, the next step is the PC. Make an

enclosure in the same way as a cooling system ...

AMD Ryzen 9 5950X is used for the CPU. For the graphic board, I chose GeForce RTX 3080 and built the machine.

In this way, the world's first 'PC that breathes with magnetic force' was completed.

Mr. Matt seems to like, 'Since the inside looks clear, it doesn't feel heavy even if it is placed in the room.'

I will actually move it.

If you place a piece of paper in the exhaust port on the top of the main unit, it will be lifted up a little by the wind pressure, so you can see that the air is properly discharged.

When I connect it to a monitor and measure the temperature, the CPU is at most 60 degrees ...

The GPU also went up only to 62 degrees.

Satisfied with this result, Mr. Matt says that he will aim for further improvement by modifying the air valves for intake air on the left and right of the machine.
