Eddie was born in 1955. Originally from the Netherlands, the surname 'Van Halen' is read as 'Van Halen' in the Netherlands, but the English reading 'Van Halen' is well established. Since his father was a clarinet player, he became familiar with music with his brother Alex from an early age and formed a band with his brothers. With the addition of David Lee Roth and others during the time of the public university Pasadena City College, he began to work under the name of 'Van Halen'.
'Van Halen' debuted in January 1978 with 'You Really Got Me'. The album 'Van Halen' released in February will eventually become a long-selling album with over 10 million copies sold.
