The AE at the end means Automotive Enhanced, and the Cortex-A78AE is the successor to the Cortex-A76AE announced in 2018. According to Arm, the Cortex-A78AE has 30% better performance than the Cortex-A76AE. In addition, security and privacy functions have also been strengthened.
In addition, Cortex-A78AE supports

The Mali-G78AE is also a GPU designed based on the Mali-G78 core announced in May 2020. It is the first GPU for Arm to support safety design, and it will realize the computing functions required for safety-oriented autonomous operating systems and the expressive user experience.
The Mali-G78AE can expand shader cores from 1 core to 24 cores and partition the GPU. There are up to four dedicated partitions to isolate the workload, and individual memory interfaces can be used to power on / off or reset each partition. It also includes dedicated hardware virtualization, allowing you to virtualize individual partitions across multiple virtual machines. In addition, it has safety features such as lock step, built-in self-test, interface parity, isolation check, and read-only memory protection.

Autonomous operating systems such as self-driving cars are required to recognize the surrounding environment by image processing using a camera. The Mali-C71AE is compatible with ASIL's B stage, and can process images from up to 4 real-time cameras or up to 16 buffer cameras.
The Mali-C71AE also achieves throughputs of up to 1.2 gigapixels per second and supports ultra-wide dynamic range (UWDR) of up to 24 stops, which exceeds human vision.
The details of the three processors announced this time will be explained at the ' Arm DevSummit ' event for engineers hosted by Arm from October 6th to 8th, 2020.
