A super-convenient non-disposable freezer bag 'Stasher' review that doubles as a cooking utensil and storage container, can be stored frozen and cooked in the oven as many times as you like

A freezer bag with a zipper is convenient, but it is a waste to be disposable if the material becomes dirty or weak. ' Stasher ' is made of silicone rubber to solve such a problem, it is highly durable and can be used over and over again. The heat-resistant temperature is 250 degrees, the cold-resistant temperature is -18 degrees, and it is possible to heat in the oven as well as boil and freeze, so I actually purchased and confirmed how it can be used.

stasher l Plastic-free storage container – stasher Japan

So, the following is the stasher.

You can choose the size and color of the stasher, and this time I bought four sizes: L size (clear), stand-up (aqua), M size (smoke), and S size (citrus).

The design is basically slim, and the thickness is about 1.7 cm.

However, the stand-up is literally self-supporting, so it has a 6.5 cm gusset.

The material is silicone rubber, so it's a little hard. The front is transparent ...

The back side is smoked.

When you hear only the point that 'it is made of silicone rubber, you can use it as many times as you like without throwing it away like a freezer bag', you may think that 'a freezer bag is enough ...', but the stasher is just 'environmentally friendly'. Not only that, but the point is that if you have one, you can use it as both a cooking utensil and a storage container, which saves space and is extremely convenient. If you usually cook in the microwave, you will find it convenient.

So, let's check its usability. First of all, let's make Yuri Yamamoto's '

One shot in the microwave * Keema curry'. Prepare Worcestershire sauce, ginger, garlic, curry roux, meat, carrots, onions, and ketchup.

First, chop the carrots and onions. This is the most troublesome work, but conversely, there is only one troublesome work here. If you have time to chop it and put it in a stasher to freeze it, you can save even more time.

Throw all the ingredients and water into the stand-up stasher (approx. 21x19x6.5mm, capacity approx. 1.6L) ...

Lightly close the lid ...

Loosen the whole.

All you have to do is heat it in the microwave at 600W for 12 minutes. The stand-up type is self-supporting as shown below, so you can put liquid in it and cook with the lid open, but the flat type cannot cook with the lid open, so if you want to put liquid in it, you should choose stand-up. It's good.

Leave the rest to the microwave.

After heating, it seemed that a lot of steam was generated, and there were water droplets inside the microwave oven.

The stasher after heating was so hot that I couldn't hold it with my bare hands, but there was no sign of deformation or softening of the material.

If you open the lid and stir the inside ...

Let it sit for about 5 minutes to let the taste blend in. After a few minutes, it became possible to hold it with bare hands. It's convenient to keep it in the corner of your desk without taking up space like a bowl or plate. If you close the lid tightly, you will not accidentally spill the contents.

Wait for a while, serve on a plate and you're done.

It is a delicious keema curry that tastes as good as anything else. Rather, if you make it in a frying pan, the meat tends to harden during heating, but because it is heated in the microwave, the meat is soft and fluffy. You don't have to worry about the heat, so you can afford to make another one while heating.

Commercially available freezer bags have a fine zipper, so it's difficult to remove them when ingredients get in, but the stasher has a large groove, so it's relatively easy to clean.

You can store the excess curry in the freezer as it is. No need to transfer to a container.

Also, in the case of plastic containers, if the content is small, space will be created at the top, which will take up extra space in the freezer, but since the stasher is a soft material, it can be folded and put in a small space.

One day later, when I took it out of the freezer, it was stuck in a cinch.

It is difficult to open the fastener part if there are water droplets on it, but I will pry it from the edge.

If you heat it in the microwave in this state ...

The delicious curry is ready.

You can put it on rice like a retort curry. Recently,

there are many recipes that can be cooked only with a microwave oven, and if you are a person who cooks with such recipes, the stasher stand-up is very convenient.

Curry is quite greasy and has a strong odor, but the fat does not stick to the inside of the container and can be easily removed with a dish detergent. Immediately after washing, a slight curry odor remained, but it was not strong.

Since you can cook rice, I will cook

white rice with the stasher immediately after making the curry. Put 1 go of washed rice and 320 ml of water in a container ...

With the lid open, first heat in a 600W microwave oven for 6 minutes.

Take out the container once and stir the contents.

Then microwave again and heat at 100W for 15 minutes or 200W for 13 minutes.

After heating, close the lid and steam for 5 minutes ...

Stir the rice and leave it open for 5 minutes to remove any water.

When I tried it, the rice was cooked firmly and softly without leaving any core. Of course, for those who are particular about rice, the fact that it is a little sticky may not be perfect, but at a general level it is sufficiently cooked. Immediately after making the curry, the smell hasn't changed. If you include all the steps, it will take about 30 minutes to cook, so the advantage of using it at home is small in that it is about the same as the quick cooking mode of the rice cooker, but since it is not bulky, if you are a long-term overseas traveler, you should have one It may be convenient to have it.

Freezer bags are often used for low-temperature cooking, so let's check if chicken breast can be low-temperature cooked with a stasher. The ingredients are simply sake, salt, and a piece of chicken breast.

Approximately 19 x 19 x 1.7 cm, capacity is 0.44 L M size stasher will be used.

First, prepare chicken breast with salt and sake ...

Put it in Dawn and Stasher as it is. With one piece of breast meat, the M size stasher was just the right size.

Submerge the stasher in a kettle filled with hot water. In the case of a freezer bag, air is evacuated by water pressure, but since the stasher is a slightly hard material, it is difficult to make it completely in close contact with the ingredients. It is possible to bleed air to some extent.

Set it in the rice cooker ...

Heat for one and a half hours in heat retention mode.

After an hour and a half, I took out the chicken breast and it looked like this.

The breast meat tends to be dry because the temperature is controlled and the heat is passed through it, but it is very moist. The umami is condensed without escaping, and even if there is some space, it was possible to cook at low temperature without problems. The degree of perfection is different at a level where people who used to boil chicken cannot return to it when they eat it.

Of course, the stasher has no change from before use. Maybe because it was low in fat, it didn't smell very much.

The stasher has a heat resistance of 250 degrees and a cold resistance of -18 degrees, and it is said that it can be used in an oven, so I decided to make

roasted salmon according to the recipe on the official website. Prepare salmon, salt, pepper and herbs.

This time, we will use L size (about 26 x 21 x 1.7 cm, capacity about 1.9 L).

Prepare salmon with salt and herbs ...

Put in the stasher. If you want to leave the prepared food on a plate for a while, you will need plastic wrap, but it is also a good point of the stasher that you do not need plastic wrap.

Preheat the oven at 230 degrees ...

Pon the stasher on the parchment paper.

Heat for 15 to 20 minutes, and when the liquid from the salmon becomes transparent, you're done.

Again, the stasher immediately after heating is so hot that you can't hold it with your bare hands, but you can hold it after a few minutes. There is no change in the material even when heated at 230 degrees.

You can easily carry the finished dish, and it seems that you can even make a lunch box as it is.

However, since I want to have a flat mouth, I need to be a little careful when taking out soft ingredients from the stasher.

The official recipe said 'heat balsamic vinegar, honey and cloves in a pan to make a sauce', but there was just a yellow grouper '

blueberry & balsamic vinegar ' ...

Salt was added and heated.

So, this is the finished dish.

Although it is cooked in the oven, it is not directly heated, so it looks like steamed and soft. There is no dryness at all. The yellow grouper sauce also has a moderately sour taste, and the sweet and sour and salty taste goes well with salmon, making it a very easy-to-make hospitality dish. If you leave this to the oven, you don't need to adjust the heat, so if you use it as a 'steaming' method that does not use a frying pan, you can save time and effort.

The S size stasher is about 19 x 1.7 x 11 cm and about 0.29 L, which is quite small, so it seems that its use as a cooking utensil will be limited, but you can put snacks, store leftovers, or freeze it like chopped green onions. It seems that it can be used as a convenient storage container for foodstuffs.

The stasher can be purchased on Amazon, and the S size is 1320 yen including tax, the M size is 1650 yen including tax, the L size is 2420 yen including tax, and the stand-up is 2090 yen including tax.
