Facebook says that article freshness can be part of an important context in determining what people read and what information they trust and share. In particular, news distributors are concerned that old articles shared on social media may be mistaken for new ones. Facebook says that some news distributors are trying to avoid being invited.

You can see what the added function is like by watching the movie linked below.

Notification for Old News Articles-Facebook

The Android version of Facebook is used in the movie. When I try to share an article by tapping 'Share' on Facebook...

You will see a notification stating 'This article is over 1 year old'. Tap 'Continue' to share it with your consent.

You can then share the article.

In addition, since the end of 2018, Facebook has added a context display function that provides information about the article source of the news feed. When you find an article in a certain news, it displays the other articles related to the content of that article to clarify the source and subject.

By tapping the button displayed in the upper right corner of the article thumbnail, you can see information about the article, news distributor details, and information such as in which area the article is mainly read.
