During COMPUTEX TAIPEI held in May 2019, Intel announced the start of the production of the 10th generation processor by the 10nm manufacturing process developed under the code name of “Ice Lake”. This 10nm processor is being produced in Hillsboro, Oregon and Kiryat Gat, Israel. The production and shipments in Chandler, Arizona are expected to increase the supply of 10th generation processors.
The 10nm manufacturing process has long had a low yield, but according to Intel, both the data center CPU and the client CPU have improved more than expected.
While the roadmap for the evolution of the 10nm manufacturing process has been prepared until 2021, Intel is also focusing on the 7nm manufacturing process and the 5nm manufacturing process. He says that the development node of the 5nm manufacturing process is going well.
In the third quarter of 2019, samples of the first discrete GPU “ Intel Xe DG1 ” were also manufactured. In 2017, we welcomed Raja Koduri from the former AMD / GPU division and have been developing discrete GPUs for 2020 . As of the third quarter of 2019, this project appears to be on schedule. By the way, the existence of ' Intel 740 ' announced in 1998 as the 'first dedicated graphics card' is known. Intel attracted attention because it was the first product to enter the graphics field, but the second-generation product disappeared without being released.
