A taste review of the autumn-only sweet 'Croissant Taiyaki Sweet Chestnut An' that contains crispy croissant dough and sweet chestnuts and specially made anko

Gin no An, known for its thin-skinned taiyaki and croissant taiyaki , introduces a new type of taiyaki called ' Sweet Chestnut Bean Paste' every autumn, made with plenty of chestnuts, a taste of autumn. We tried the 'Croissant Taiyaki Sweet Chestnut Bean Paste ,' which is made by mixing slowly roasted Tianjin sweet chestnuts into a special paste and stuffing it into a crispy, chewy croissant dough.

We have arrived at Gin no An.

I found a Croissant Taiyaki with Sweet Chestnut Bean Paste (250 yen including tax) lined up in the store's showcase.

I immediately got my hands on the croissant taiyaki with the chestnut paste and arranged it on a plate. Unlike regular taiyaki, it has a distinctive feature in that it has croissant dough 'ears' surrounding the fish silhouette.

The shiny surface is decorated with sweet chestnuts and

medium-sized sugar .

'

Please warm it up in the oven for about 2 to 3 minutes before eating ,' the store clerk explained, so we decided to actually warm it up in the oven. As the taiyaki slowly warmed up, the sweet smell of chestnuts filled the air, and a nearby editorial staff member exclaimed, 'It smells so good...!'

I immediately tried to split the taiyaki in half to try it out, but the dough was very chewy and it took more strength than regular taiyaki to split it in half.

When you eat it, the sweet chestnut paste is more like a baked sweet potato than like chestnut, and it has more of a chestnut flavor. The ears are crispy and fragile, so they crumble when you eat them, but the dough filled with the paste is chewy, giving the impression of fully demonstrating the charm of the croissant dough. The paste is spread throughout the entire area where the fish is drawn, so if you're the type of person who likes to neutralize the sweetness of taiyaki with the tail, it's recommended that you eat the ears and think about the balance.

The Croissant Taiyaki Sweet Chestnut An is available for a limited time at Gin no An stores nationwide for 250 yen including tax.
